Why we are working with Nigeria in drug control — US

The United States Consul General, Joseph Stafford, has highlighted reasons why his country is deepening its relationship with in the fight against narcotic drugs, money laundering and organised crimes.

The US envoy gave the insight during a law enforcement working group farewell reception for three members of the consulate at Ikoyi, Lagos.

Stafford identified commitment to control fundamentals and demonstrable cooperation of the leadership of the National Law Enforcement Agency as key factors responsible for the blossoming relationship between both countries in narcotics control.

He said, “The wonderful cooperation, commitment and impressive progress of the NDLEA made Nigeria to be delisted from the drug majors list by the United States government.”

He added that the outgoing officials should be proud of the work they have done in Nigeria, “Though you are leaving us soon, you can be proud of the work you have done in Nigeria. Your collaborative efforts with the NDLEA and the successes recorded have not gone unnoticed in Washington. United States is highly encouraged by the efforts of the NDLEA to further deepen its working relations.”
