Woman bites cop in Gombe

A 22-year-old , Zainab Musa, appeared before the Bogo Magistrates’ Court in on Tuesday, charged with biting a police officer.

Musa was charged for causing hurt, obstructing a public servant while performing his duty, resisting arrest and criminal intimidation.

She was, however, released on bail after pleading guilty to the offences.

The First Information Report of the police said that Musa fought Elisha Duka, of the Pantami Police Division, Gombe, while he was on an official duty.

The Police Prosecutor, Bako Shekari, said that the accused bit the police officer in the hand and obstructed him from performing his duty.

Duka said the accused refused to go to the police station when she was invited but instead, threatened to “deal” with the officer.

The prosecutor said that Musa committed an offence, contrary to sections 264,240,171 and 396 of the Penal Code.

When the charges were read to her, she pleaded guilty and sought leniency.

The Senior Magistrate, Daurabo Sikam, granted the accused bail in the sum of N30,000 with one surety in like sum.

In addition, the surety must be a worker with the Gombe State Government.

She adjourned the case to August 6, to enable the police know the condition of the bitten by the accused.
