Three young women, Victoria Segun (24), Adijat Waheed (25) and Funke Adesanmi (31) were, on Tuesday, arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate Court, Lagos on a two-count charge of felony and armed robbery.
The prosecutor, Insp. Samson Ekikere, said the defendants had, on June 23 at Mile 2 area of Lagos, robbed one Bashiru of N520,000 cash and a Nokia mobile phone worth N20,000.
Ekikere said the women, who were members of an armed robbery gang, were arrested in their residence at Imota, Ikorodu, with different firearms and 14 live ammunition in their possession.
He said that the offence contravened Sections 1 (2) (a) (b) and 5 (b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap 398, Vol. XXII, Laws of the Federation, 1990.
The pleas of the women, who claimed to be hawkers, were not taken, and the magistrate, A. Akanni, ordered them remanded in prison custody pending the advice of the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).
