She went through her fair share of heartbreak when her marriage to Ashley Cole ended in divorce amid multiple allegations of cheating.
But the mother of the singer’s new man, Los Angeles-based backing dancer Tre Holloway, is concerned the 29-year-old beauty may leave her inexperienced son heartbroken this time around.
Speaking from her home in the US, Shirley Holloway told The Sun: ‘She might hurt him. She’s been married before.’
The 56-year-old admitted her son was somewhat inexperienced when it comes to matters of the heart, but insisted he won’t be following in the footsteps of Cheryl’s love rat ex-husband.
She added: ‘He wouldn’t do that. That’s not him. He has dated in the past in college and high school but it was nothing serious.’
Although Shirley is yet to meet Cheryl – who enjoyed her third date in a week with Tre last night – she gets the impression her son is ‘quite into’ the Geordie beauty.
Meanwhile, Tre has told his mother the new lady in his life ‘likes’ him.
Shirley explained: ‘Of course I’m curious to meet her. If this is a serious relationship then I’m looking forward to meeting her because I trust Tre’s judgment. If he likes her, then she must be a good person.’
Meanwhile, Cheryl’s mother Joan and brother Garry are said to have given their blessing to the new romance, and are looking forward to meeting Tre later in the month.
Things seem to be going strong for the new couple, and Cheryl – worth an estimated £12million – doesn’t seem at all put off by the backing dancer’s apparently modest financial means.
Last night, the couple enjoyed their third date this week alone as they stepped out to London’s exclusive Cicconi restaurant with Cheryl’s Girls Aloud bandmates Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts and their boyfriends.
But the night didn’t end there, with the group later moving on to the Rose club, where they partied until 3am.
Although the couple seemed to be having a whale of a time as they exploded into a fit of giggles while getting into a back of a cab together, Cheryl’s new romance seems to be playing havoc with her skin.
The brunette beauty was spotted with a number of blemishes tarnishing her usually perfect skin as she left the club with Tre in the early hours of this morning.
Tre – who has been spotted out on dates at two of London’s most expensive sushi restaurants with the singer this week – openly states on his Facebook profile: ‘I ain’t got no money, no car to take you on a date!’
The cheeky statement is borrowed from the lyrics of The Way I Are, a song by hip hop producer Timbaland.
The former X Factor judge, 29, and Tre were pictured leavingRoka restaurant in London’s Fitzrovia on Tuesday night.
Cheryl led the way in a short black dress with a zebra stripe print and her man followed in hot pursuit.
A fellow diner at the sushi restaurant told The Sun: ‘They are clearly very close. Several times Cheryl leaned in to him and touched his knee as he spoke. There is certainly a spark between them.’
The pair had enjoyed a meal with the singer’s former Girls Aloud bandmate Kimberley Walsh and her boyfriend Justin Scott and Nicola Roberts at Nobu in Mayfair on Monday.
And it seemed clear the pair are more than friends, with Tre gently placing his arm around Cheryl’s waist after they entered the restaurant.
Cheryl donned a tight-fitting black leather dress for the evening and was seen smiling at Tre as they made their way to the meal.
In recent weeks the dancer has been seen gyrating with Mrs Cole during her performances at the Capital FM Summertime Ball and in Soho nightclub G-A-Y, where the pair were seen holding hands and even downing shots of tequila on stage.
They were also seen celebrating Cheryl’s birthday in Last Vegas last month, and were spotted leaving a nightclub together after a party thrown by the star’s manager and close friend will.i.am.
The pair met when Cheryl performed her track Promise This on the 2010 X Factor finals.
Tre grew up in New Jersey but now lives in LA and he has danced with a whole host of stars including the late Whitney Houston.
Yesterday the dancer’s former teacher told how he had been a ‘heartthrob’ even when at school.
He said Tre, who attended Burlington Township High School in New Jersey, had been an ‘exceptional student’ who was popular with everyone from the ‘geeks to the jocks’.
He said: ‘Tre came back here in June – he never forgets his roots. He came from a very nice family.’
Cheryl divorced from husband of three-and-a-half years Ashley Cole in 2010 and has failed to confirm or deny reports linking her to men since then.
A spokesperson for the singer told MailOnline: ‘We have no comment as Cheryl does not comment on her personal life.’
