AN Edo State High Court, on Tuesday, admitted to , an environment and economic rights activist, David , who has been in detention in connection with the of Governor Adams Oshio-mhole’s principal private secretary, Mr Olaitan .

Ugolor was arrested on July 27 by the police, after a suspected killer of Oyerinde purportedly named him as the sponsor.

Justice P. Imodemhe, in a ruling on the summons to admit to bail, filed by Ugolor’s counsel, Olayiwola Afolabi, said the police could not prove beyond reasonable doubts why Ugolor should not be released.

According to Justice Imodemhe, the case was a bailable offence, because it was conspiracy and robbery.

The judge added that there was no solid proof to show that Ugolor was involved beyond the statement of the suspect being relied upon by the police.

Justice Imodemhe added that the police, in the counter-affidavit they filed, showed they were still investigating and was not ready to prosecute Ugolor.

He, therefore, granted Ugolor bail in the sum of N1 million, with a surety with landed property within the jurisdiction.

At the time of filing the report, some members of civil society groups in the state were making efforts to meet the bail condition.
