FORMER Accountant General of Enugu State, Mr. Chinyeaka Oha has been charged before an Enugu Magistrate Court for allegedly raising false alarm over the kidnap of his wife. He is to answer four-count charge of conspiracy, false allegation, assault and dispossession.
Oha who is currently the Director of Accounts and Internal audit at the Ministry of Defence Abuja, was charged alongside his brother, William Oha on a private prosecution fiat instituted by an Enugu based lawyer, Barr. Emeka Igwesi and an Enugu based medical practitioner, Dr. Ikechukwu Nnaji.
When the case came up Thursday, the accused persons were not in court and no plea was taken.
According to the charges, the accused persons on March 5 this year conspired and made false allegation against Emeka Igwesi and Ikechukwu Nnaji that they sent one Nkemakonam Nnaji who is currently in Enugu prisons to kidnap the wife of Chinyeaka Oha at Amangwu Oboffia Awkunanaw.
It was alleged that William Oha joined the police to assault Emeka Igwesi by forcing him into the car while he insisted that he be given his phone to make call in respect of his whereabouts.
The charge further stated that William Oha allegedly dispossessed Igwesi his personal properties/belongings which included eyeglasses, NBA diary, wedding ring and wallet containing the sum of N16,400.
Arguing the case for the complainants against the backdrop of the preliminary objection raised by the defence counsel, Prof. RACE Achara, the prosecution counsel, Barr. Basil Ezeunegbu contended that the defendants must be physically in court before any objection would be entertained by the court.
