The social networking site, which is now the darling of most music and movie stars, can be accessed via mobile devices, laptops and table top computers. Nigerian celebrities like D’Banj, Don Jazzy, Uche Jombo, Tonto Dikeh, Ruggedman, Wizkid, Gbenga Adeyinka, Goldie and Banky W among others are some of the most visible entertainers on Twitter with large following.
With a fan base exceeding 100,000, these Nigerian entertainers rule their world and get closer to their fans through Twitter. Investigations conducted by SBF, however, revealed that award-winning producer Don Jazzy tops the list of Nigerian entertainers with the largest number of fans on Twitter with 156, 051 of them. Don Jazzy
Don Jazzy, who won the award of the Best Producer at the just-ended awards night The Headies 2011 and emerged as one of Nigeria’s most influential celebrity in a survey done by the popular Forbes magazine, tops the list with 156,051followers.
His Twitter handle is dubbed @DONJAZZY. He is one of the most visible entertainers on Twitter with over 33,380 tweets. And Don Jazzy replies almost all his tweets. He uses the avenue to unfold some of the plans of his MoHits Inc. group.
Wizkid
Don Jazzy is closely followed by music whiz kid, Wizkid. The Empire Mates Entertainment recording act has 121, 463 twitter friends under the Twitter handle, @wizkidayo. He recently bagged the Next Rated Music Act award in Nigeria at the Headies 2011.
The young musician is one of the most visible entertainers on twitter. His movement and location can be traced via his tweets. The other day he used his twitter site to deny allegations that he has a child.
’Banj
D’Banj is also one of the leading acts with large following on twitter. With 118, 746 twitter friends under the twitter handle, @IamDbanj. Though he’s not as visible as MoHits President Don Jazzy, he uses the medium to deny or confirm the tales about him or react to people’s perception of him.
Banky W
Some believe Banky W’s influence is the reason Wizkid’s is addicted to the social networking site. He has been seen on several occasions tweeting at events and even at video shoots. His 110,112 twitter friends regularly relate with Banky W and share views on the site.
