Former Governor of Kano State Ibrahim Shekarau has been arrested by the State Security Service (SSS). His arrest may not be unconnected with the alleged sponsorship of Boko Haram during his tenure as the Kano State Governor.
It should be recalled that spokesperson of Boko Haram, Abu Qaqa earlier last week in an interview granted to the media claimed that some northern governors have been sponsoring their activities for so many years now. Though the chairman of the northern governors forum, Alh. Babangida Aliyu of Niger State has denounced the claim as untrue.
In a renewed zeal to fight the scourge of the terrorist islamic sect, the security agents have placed some politicians under serious scrutiny over their suspicion of their involvement in the sponsorship of the terrorist sect
Ibrahim Shekarau was also a presidential candidate for the All Nigeria People’s Part (ANPP) in the 2011 general elections.
