GHANA’S AFRO pop music star, Rebecca Acheampong aka Becca, made history when she won Overall Best Video Award with her ‘African Woman’ video at the second edition of the Vodafone 4syte Music Video Awards.
The event was held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, November 19.
Becca, whose live band musical performances have won the hearts of many music fans in Ghana, again won the Best Female Video for her video ‘Push’, featuring Trigmatic.
Ghana’s fastest rapper Sarkodie also swept two awards, Best Hip-hop Video with the song ‘Lay Away’ ft. Sway and Best Editing.
Sarkodie also shared the Best Collaboration Award with R2Bees with the song ‘Agyeii’.
4 Syte Music Video Awards objectives are to promote Ghana artistes and their works internationally, unite the artistes through music and the arts, and also produce world-class music videos that portray a positive image of Africa.
The event attracted all the stakeholders in the entertainment industry as well as music fans from all walks of life who filled both the ground floor and the first floor of the conference centre.
The centre was so packed that one could hardly find a place to sit.
Becca, after receiving her awards, told BEATWAVES in a chat that she was grateful to all her fans who supported her in her musical career, saying, “I say a big thank you to my fans, without them I am nobody and I love them all”.
This year’s event which was hosted by Lazzy of VIP and TV host Crystal Jeanne, witnessed historic performances from stars the likes of Kwaw Kese, Stay J and Eduwoji, Sarkodie, R2Bees, VIP, 4×4, Zigi, Bra Kevin Beats, FOI, Buk Bak and Trigmatic.
