The 30 Rock star currently hosts the organization’s radio show and serves as a member on its board of directors and now Baldwin has handed over a portion of the proceeds from his Capital One banking advertising campaign to help support the orchestra.
The gift was made in honor of New York Philharmonic’s outgoing executive director and longtime pal Zarin Mehta, who is set to leave his post at the end of the 2012 season, according to The New York Times.
A statement from the 54-year-old actor reads: “I have loved classical music all of my life, but Zarin Mehta made my dream of becoming part of the world of classical music come true. I will miss working with him directly, but will always bear in mind his passion, commitment and insight as I continue my work with the New York Philharmonic.”
“Zarin has my best wishes for the future, and I look forward to continuing our rich, musical friendship.”
